Another London city-centre Grade II listed building we worked on was 3 Devonshire Place.
In the heart of Marylebone, the building was more than 200 years old and had been sympathetically restored. The flats are now worth around £1.2m each.
Its period features had been retained, but our expertise was called on when it came to the windows.
This was another big challenge for us and we had to push all the technical boundaries to come with a solution that was aesthetically-pleasing, retained the character of the original windows and provided a solution to noise and draughts.
For the first phase, lower vertical sliding sash windows were fitted over the large windows where the original shutters needed to work. We’re now into the second phase of the work – more on that to come another time!
