The Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge is a wonderful place with a dedicated staff that has been there for hundreds of local families during the most challenging of times. It’s at the heart of our community, and we’re glad to support it.
In chilly early January, our brave volunteers Jayne, George and Jo joined in with a Treecycle fundraiser for the hospice. Millions of Christmas trees are thrown out every year in the UK, but they can easily be recycled into chippings which can be used in parks and gardens. The annual Mary Stevens Hospice tree collection ensures that those trees are recycled while raising money for the charity.
Our team were given the name “Jon Bon JoveTree” and managed to collect 55 trees which helped towards an incredible fundraising total of £38,500. The vans for our collection were kindly provided by Enterprise.
Previously to raise funds for the hospice, members of our team have taken part in the Neon Night Run at Himley Hall and Park, and we sponsored a square on the limited charity edition Black Country Monopoly. The hospice relies on activities such as these by local businesses and individuals to support their incredible work.
We thoroughly enjoyed being ‘go-green elves’ for the day as it summed up all that’s positive about our amazing local community.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s collection!
