Very few country estates in Britain have maintained their manorial presence of old, embedded in the community and acting as overseers of the villages in which they stand. Worcestershire’s Overbury Estate, however, is a remarkable example where this historic authority remains very much alive.
Thanks to the current owner, Lady Penelope Bossom, Overbury Court still stands proud as a much-loved family home and the villages of Overbury and neighbouring Conderton owe much of their prosperity and development to her and her family’s activities.
Having been handed down through generations of the prestigious Martin family, whose roots in the banking industry and local government led to their standing as lords and landowners, the estate’s various residences and buildings are still lovingly preserved and used for the benefit of residents and workers in the surrounding areas.
Storm are delighted to be helping with the continual improvement of the Overbury Estate.
Initially, we upgraded the windows within the estate office and shop and we are now installing secondary glazing to the sash and casement windows of the rented cottages and houses, as well as Overbury Court itself as part of wider refurbishment works.
We hope this is the start of a long-standing relationship between Storm and Overbury Estate and look forward to our continuing association.
