The owner of this beautiful period window didn’t think it could be secondary glazed, and if you look at its complexity, you can see why. But with lots of planning and a collaboration with Runcorn Glass & Bending, we made it easy work!
For this involved and technical job, in the beautiful Town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, we needed only the best, so we called on our Director, Mitchell Reece who designed the complex system.
The first phase of the job was a lot simpler, fitting slimline units to original sash windows in the rest of the house, something we can do with our eyes closed!
Phase two took just a little longer to complete, 12 weeks to be precise.
For this special project we employed the help of Runcorn Glass who are experts in bespoke curved glass, they use a traditional method of bending glass that was perfect for this window.
Once moulded, the glass can’t be changed so the original measurements had to be absolutely accurate, it’s a good job our surveyors are always spot-on!
Once moulded we fitted six curved slimline units, two shaped units and two regular slim line units, we designed it so the middle units could open if needed in the summer months or for cleaning.
The secondary glazing is virtually invisible, did you even notice it? This is a picture of our work afterwards if you can believe it.
This previously draughty space is now a warm and cosy place to sit in day and night and we’re thrilled we could make that happen.
