THOROUGH TESTING

Under the guidance of Historic Scotland’s Technical Conservation Group, independent testing was carried out by Paul Baker of Glasgow Caledonian University to evaluate the performance of traditional windows.

Thermal imaging clearly demonstrates the significant reduction in heat loss once secondary glazing is installed, compared to the original primary glazing alone.

MEASURABLE RESULTS

The table summarises the findings, highlighting the thermal performance of traditional windows before and a er the installation of Storm Windows’ bespoke secondary glazing.

By using toughened safety glass as a standard we can improve thermal efficiency even further by glazing the units with Pilkington K glass which has a hard coating on one side of the glass which reflects heat back into the room achieving optimum thermal performance.
