While it would never have been their choice to spend so long away from the Storm workplace, some of our staff have found themselves with time on their hands at home having been furloughed. It’s been great to catch up with them all and find out how they have been keeping busy.
We thought it would be fun to share news, and a few pictures, of how they’ve used their time productively in lockdown!
DIY
It seems many across the nation have used their time to tidy up the house and garden. We’ve certainly noticed lots of freshly painted fences and very neat gardens in our local area!
This has been a go-to activity for some of our team as well who have managed to scratch a few items of the ever-increasing DIY to-do list!
Martin Walford and Surveyor Andy Bennett have both painted their fences and gates.
Mitchell Reece got the ladders out at last and replaced their guttering.
And George has finally got around to fixing the washing machine door, which has been (in his words) ‘on the blink’ for some time!
Helping hands
We’re super proud of our Sales and Health and Safety Secretary, Kerry Henderson’s fundraising initiative, but she’s not the only one who spent time helping others.
Andrew Dennis has also volunteered his time, offering a helping hand to elderly neighbours who needed shopping.
He’s juggled this with looking after son Ollie and says he’s loved having more time to spend with him. They’ve enjoyed craft activities together and playing football.
Family time
Being at home with the kids has meant lots of family time fun for others in our team too.
Jo Reece has also enjoyed the extra time with her son Jono. They’ve been making dens, training the dog and walking lots. Jono’s also had the very important role of making sure the Storm Windows vans are all in check.
Exercise
While exercise with the kids and dogs has helped a lot of our team stay trim over lockdown, Oliver Parkes has stepped his exercise regime up a notch. We’re very impressed to hear he’s run 10k most days! There’s no excuse now though, we reckon he should train for a marathon.
Zoom parties!
Online video conferencing app Zoom has quickly become a household name over the past couple of months, but what a fantastic tool for keeping in touch. We’ve had more than one team Zoom call to discuss Storm projects and maintain contact with our customers.
But it’s also been great for family and friend ‘virtual’ get-togethers. James Parkes has told us they had a Zoom fancy dress night – and even their dog Lilly joined in!
Birth and birthday celebrations
Family time for Jayne has certainly been interesting as she welcomed her beautiful baby girl into the world in February – just before we all had to shut ourselves away. It’s given her plenty of time though to settle into motherhood.
I’m sure she won’t mind us sharing that she has also celebrated a birthday herself, turning 30! So it’s double birthday congratulations from us to the two of you, Jayne and Darcey!
