You might be gearing up for the Rugby World Cup later this year, but closer to home local clubs are also raring for the rugby season to start.
Whilst it’s great to cheer on our nation’s shining sports stars, we think it’s equally important to get behind the rising stars of tomorrow. That’s why we’re supporting a local club’s under 8s team, full of enthusiastic youngsters who dream of one day making it to the top.
When 7-year-old Harry, son of Storm Surveyor, Warwick Bellerby, asked if we could help his team get kitted out for the new season – we were more than happy to oblige!
Worcester Rugby Club’s under 8s gives local kids the opportunity to learn in a structured and supportive environment. They recruit players regardless of ability or experience and offer them the chance to play home and away games.
Although there’s no competitiveness involved at this age, we wanted to help them feel more professional so provided each player with a branded kit.
It was great to see them proudly wearing it for a mini tour in Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare last month.
Storm director, Mitchell Reece, said: “I love that this is about building confidence from a young age to have a go and get involved in a sport. It’s not about keeping score, but about being part of a team and having fun together.
“Putting on a smart-looking kit helps with that team spirit. It makes you feel a part of something special.
“We’re thrilled that we’ve been able to support Harry and his under 8s teammates by sponsoring their sportswear for the year. We hope they have had a fantastic time and that this inspires them to play on as they grow.
“Who knows, amongst them might be the next Johnny Wilkinson or Owen Farrell.”
