Across the glazing industry, research and development are leading to breakthroughs in sustainability.
ORAÉ®, the world’s first EPD-verified low-carbon glass, has been developed with sustainability in mind, reducing carbon emissions without compromising the quality and appearance of the glass. Incorporating 64% recycled materials, it has a low carbon footprint of just 6.64 kg of CO2 eq./m2 for a 4 mm glass. Using renewable energy sources, it achieves a 42% energy use reduction through its manufacturing process.
At Storm, our work with heritage and conservation buildings has always meant that sustainability has been a key component of our approach so we’re delighted to become the UK’s first company to supply and fit COOL-LITE® XTREME ORAÉ®.

As well as achieving a remarkably low carbon footprint, The COOL-LITE® XTREME coatings that are applied to the glass further minimise the carbon emissions generated by energy consumption during the building’s usage. This provides a range of benefits for both homeowners and the environment.
Alongside very low carbon ORAÉ® glazing, we also now offer Navarra N32 000 aluminium extrusions, which use recycled materials throughout the manufacturing process. To ensure that the products they offer would be a good fit for Storm and the heritage industry, we paid a visit to the Navarra manufacturing plant to check their processes.

Our directors, Jayne, Mitch and Oliver, have expressed their own commitment to sustainability, and are delighted that Storm are now able to offer outstanding, low-carbon products to our customers. This is what they had to say:
“At Storm, we understand the legacy that’s been passed down to us. Our business is a family one, and we’re trusted with the care and enhancement of some incredible heritage buildings. That care extends to the environment and the planet we share. With that in mind, we’re always looking for ways to make what we do more sustainable. ORAÉ® is the most sustainable glazing on the market, and we’re very happy to be the first UK company to offer it to our clients. Not only are we helping to make our heritage buildings more energy efficient, we’re also ensuring they’re sustainable.”
