Talking about interesting projects, here’s one of ours. York Railway Station is a grade II listed building and one of the most iconic and important buildings on the UK rail network. Half-way between London and Edinburgh, York is the cornerstone of the network in northern England.
We were delighted to be commissioned to provide secondary glazing as part of the refurbishment of the Travel Centre at the station. Working with Consortia Integrated Services on behalf of the London North Eastern Railway, we installed 13 units in total. These were made up of 8 shaped feature slimline units and 5 slimline units, all glazed with K glass for optimal thermal performance.
Because of the central role the Travel Centre plays at the station, our team were required to complete the installation out of hours. Oliver and George worked heroically between 7pm and 2am to ensure the installation was completed efficiently.
The new Travel Centre is now better insulated while protecting the character and cultural importance of this old working building. It’s a warmer and more practical space for travel centre staff and visitors alike.
