A shared vision for protecting the past
Our hand-crafted, bespoke secondary glazing plays a vital role in the restoration and preservation of old buildings. Properties that were once draughty, cold and noisy can remain fit for purpose, providing those inside with a warm, quiet and comfortable space. The unobtrusive nature of our glazing preserves the aesthetic integrity of the original windows and the character that defines a building’s heritage.
Our work includes the historic buildings of Plas Newydd, The Royal Hospital Chelsea, Powis Castle and Lindisfarne Castle.
We share a passion and dedication for protecting our rich architectural legacy with SPAB, and believe these buildings need to be protected, sympathetically restored, and maintained to ensure their survival.
In 2022, we had the privilege of supporting The SPAB Heritage Awards, an event that recognizes the dedication and creativity within the heritage sector. Building on the success of our partnership, we are honoured to continue our collaboration with SPAB in 2024.
Celebrating unsung heroes
The SPAB Heritage Awards spotlight the tireless efforts of the people working behind the scenes to preserve and maintain historic buildings. These hard-working custodians, often volunteering their time and unique skills, deserve recognition and reward.
The categories for the SPAB Heritage Awards 2024 awards are as follows:
Building Craftsperson of the Year
This award honours craftspeople and builders working with historic buildings. They may specialise in the use of traditional materials and methods of construction and will be focused on preserving and protecting the building being worked on.
Best Loved
This award will be voted for by the public and will celebrate the care and attention given to ensure old buildings are well-maintained.
Sustainable Heritage Award
This award celebrates sensitive, sympathetic and sustainable upgrades and repairs to traditional buildings
The Philip Webb Award
This award celebrates the sympathetic reuse of old buildings and rewards sensitive new design work.
The John Betjeman Award
This celebrates excellence in the conservation and repair of places of worship.
Continuing the legacy
SPAB, founded in 1877 by designer and artist William Morris, shares our dedication to protecting buildings through thoughtful conservation rather than disruptive restoration. This philosophy, outlined in the original manifesto, is still very much at the heart of SPAB’s – and Storm’s – work today.
Joining forces for heritage
As headline sponsors of The SPAB Heritage Awards 2024, we celebrate the unwavering commitment of those who, like us, recognize the importance of safeguarding our architectural treasures. Together, with SPAB and other like-minded individuals, we will ensure that the legacy of our heritage buildings lives on.
Entries to the SPAB Heritage Awards 2024 can be made from now up until Wednesday, 31 July 2024.
